GTA VI’s official path to release is built around nine dates. Together, they cover Rockstar’s first confirmation, two trailers, multiple release plans, pre-orders and the Extended Look. The current endpoint is November 19, 2026.

The timeline begins on November 8, 2023. Rockstar Games officially confirmed that GTA VI was in development on that date. The announcement established the project publicly before any official trailer had been released.

Trailer 1 followed on December 4, 2023, creating a 26-day gap between confirmation and the first video presentation. It formally brought Vice City back into the series. Rockstar’s material also placed the city inside the fictional state of Leonida.

On May 16, 2024, Take-Two attached an official 2025 release window to GTA VI. That update did not include a specific month or day. It nevertheless made 2025 the first publicly stated launch period in this sequence.

Rockstar revised that plan on May 2, 2025. GTA VI was moved from the 2025 window to May 2026, with the company citing the need for additional polishing time. This was the first official delay recorded after Take-Two’s earlier projection.

Trailer 2 premiered on May 6, 2025, four days after the schedule change. The video continued the official presentation of Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Rockstar identifies both characters as GTA VI’s playable protagonists.

Another calendar update arrived on November 6, 2025. Rockstar moved the game from May 2026 to November 19, 2026. This announcement replaced a monthly target with the exact release date that remains official.

Pre-orders opened at midnight local time on June 25, 2026. The Standard Edition was listed from US$79.99, although Rockstar’s information notes that prices differ by store and region. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S remain the announced launch platforms, while no official PC date has been provided.

The next milestone was the Extended Look published on August 27, 2026. It is the latest official presentation listed before launch. The date places it almost three months after pre-orders opened and less than three months ahead of the scheduled release.

November 19, 2026 now closes the official timeline. Rockstar describes GTA VI as a single-player experience for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, without providing launch details for an online mode. Every milestone collected here comes from official records published by Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive.
