The four days between GTA VI’s delay and Trailer 2

In May 2025, Rockstar revised the GTA VI schedule and released its second trailer only four days later.

GTA VI’s second trailer did not arrive during an ordinary week in the game’s official timeline. Rockstar announced a delay to May 2026 on May 2, 2025, explaining that additional time was needed for polish. Trailer 2 premiered on May 6, exactly four days later.

Those four days connect two announcements that are often discussed separately. One changed the release schedule, while the other resumed the game’s trailer campaign. By the time viewers saw Trailer 2, the previous 2025 target was no longer current.

The timeline had started with Rockstar confirming GTA VI on November 8, 2023. Trailer 1 followed on December 4, giving the project its first official trailer presentation. Take-Two then listed a 2025 release window on May 16, 2024.

That 2025 window remained the public target until Rockstar’s statement on May 2, 2025. The company replaced it with May 2026 and cited the need for more development time to polish the game. This was the schedule in effect when the next trailer arrived.

Trailer 2 premiered on May 6 rather than before the delay announcement. That ordering is a small but useful distinction in the GTA VI record. The new footage entered the official campaign only after the wait had already been extended into 2026.

Reading the dates in sequence also prevents two different milestones from being merged into one event. Rockstar first revised the release plan and then published Trailer 2 four days afterward. Both dates come from the company’s official GTA VI communications.

May 2026 would not remain the final destination. On November 6, 2025, Rockstar moved GTA VI again and set November 19, 2026 as the new release date. November 19 is the currently confirmed date in the official record provided here.

That places Trailer 2 at a precise point between schedule changes. It arrived four days after GTA VI left its 2025 window, then preceded the move to November 2026 by six months. The trailer’s place in the timeline is clearer when those dates stay attached to it.

The campaign continued after the November date was established. Pre-orders opened at local midnight on June 25, 2026, and Rockstar released an Extended Look on August 27. Both milestones occurred with the November 19 launch already on the calendar.

May 2025 ultimately contained one of the sharpest turns in GTA VI’s official rollout. A delay statement and Trailer 2 were separated by only four days, but they served different purposes in the record. Rockstar Games is the source for both events, while the earlier 2025 projection came from Take-Two.
