Four days separated the delay and Trailer 2
In May 2025, Rockstar changed GTA VI’s release window and delivered its new trailer within the same week.

Trailer 2 arrived on May 6, 2025, but an important calendar update had landed only four days earlier. On May 2, Rockstar moved GTA VI to May 2026. Those two official announcements turned one week into a sharp change of pace for the community.
The broader timeline began with Rockstar confirming GTA VI on November 8, 2023. Trailer 1 followed on December 4, introducing the first major stage of the game’s public campaign. By May 16, 2024, Take-Two was still presenting 2025 as the release window.
That window did not survive into May 2025. Rockstar announced on May 2 that the game would arrive in May 2026 instead. Its stated reason was the need for additional time to polish the game.
This was a direct update to the expected launch, not an estimate attached to a rumor. May 2026 became the official target at that point in the timeline. For players following every date, the wait had received a clear extension.
Then the countdown to another official reveal lasted just four days. Rockstar released Trailer 2 on May 6, 2025. The delay and the trailer therefore belonged to the same calendar week.
That compact sequence is easy to miss when each announcement is remembered as a separate milestone. One changed when fans expected to play GTA VI, while the other offered a fresh official presentation. Their proximity gave the conversation little time to settle between them.
Our reading is that the second announcement quickly redirected attention without undoing the first. The longer wait remained official, but Trailer 2 gave fans something else concrete to examine. It was a fast pivot in the public discussion, not a reversal of the release update.
The dates should also remain distinct. May 6 was the premiere of Trailer 2, while May 2 established the revised May 2026 window. Nothing in the registered timeline says that the trailer itself changed that release plan.
The schedule would eventually move again. On November 6, 2025, GTA VI shifted from May to November 2026. Rockstar’s currently confirmed release date is November 19, 2026.
Four days do not expose a secret about the game, but they do capture an unusual beat in its official journey. A delay and a major trailer arrived almost back-to-back, combining disappointment and renewed attention within one week. Recent GTA 6 reports suggest that observing people, vehicles, and relationships will matter as much as checking meters. If that reading holds, the game’s interface will extend beyond the corners of the screen.
