90% Plan to Play GTA Online, but GTA 6 Hasn't Confirmed It
The survey polled 9,000 teenagers, and 40% also plan to make additional in-game purchases.

A Piper Sandler survey indicates that 90% of the teenagers polled plan to play GTA Online. The figure shows the scale of demand for an online experience connected to the series’ next era. However, Rockstar has not announced an online mode for GTA 6, according to GameSpot.
The study polled 9,000 teenagers and measured both interest in the game and the audience’s spending plans. The survey does not confirm any GTA 6 features. It records what respondents expect to play, not what Rockstar has promised to deliver.
Alongside the 90% interested in GTA Online, 40% of respondents said they planned to make additional in-game purchases. The result points to an audience familiar with spending beyond an initial game purchase. Still, there is no confirmation that those purchases will be available in a future GTA 6 online experience.
The survey also found strong purchase intent among teenagers who own a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. Within that group, 70% said they planned to buy GTA 6. The breakdown presented by the study shows that 55% plan to buy it immediately, while 15% would wait several months.
Those figures join another recent measure of demand cited by the source. Circana previously reported that nearly one in three console and PC players in the United States planned to buy GTA 6. According to the company, that was the highest purchase intent it had ever measured.
For now, retailer listings describe GTA 6 as a single-player experience. That matches what has been publicly announced so far. No online component is included in the information presented on those product pages.
For players preparing for launch, the practical consequence is straightforward: there is no basis for expecting GTA Online inside GTA 6 on day one. The confirmed launch offering is the game’s single-player experience. Any possible online expansion remains outside what has been announced.
GTA 6 launches on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Preloading begins on November 10, allowing players to prepare the download before release. The survey does not change those dates or the announced platforms.
The biggest unanswered question is when, or even how, GTA 6 might receive an online experience. Rockstar has not said whether it would be integrated into the game, released separately, or introduced later. There is also no announced date for any of those possibilities.
Another open question concerns the existing GTA Online. It remains unclear what Rockstar will do with that experience after GTA 6 arrives. The survey measures audience interest, but it does not explain how the company intends to serve that demand.
The study also arrived while the market was closely watching Take-Two. Analyst James Callahan reiterated a $290 price target for the company’s stock. On November 4, the shares stood at roughly $210 following a major rally that day and a difficult performance across 2026.
The results underline the difference between expectation and confirmation: the audience wants to play online, but GTA 6 is still presented as a single-player experience. Until Rockstar announces its plans, a new GTA Online should not be treated as a guaranteed launch feature. The survey results and the current state of the announcements were reported by GameSpot.
