Catnap or Catastrophe With Armed Cougars in GTA 5

The Cougars mod offers four difficulty levels, seven special cat types, and a pursuit that continues even after teleporting.

Redação G6 World

The Cougars mod gives GTA 5 players four difficulty levels, starting with Catnap and escalating to the chaos of Catastrophe. Once activated, it sends roaming packs of hostile cougars after the player. Some of the animals arrive armed or protected, according to a test published by PC Gamer.

The mod is simply called Cougars, and its description promises seven special cougar types. Its four difficulty settings are Catnap, Furmidable, Feral, and Catastrophe. PC Gamer selected the last and most chaotic option for its test.

The pursuit begins with a tap of the Delete key. According to the report, the selected difficulty appears to affect both the number of animals dispatched and the potency of their weapons. The source does not provide the exact values used by each mode.

On Catastrophe, the opening took the form of a pseudo-game show. Franklin, Trevor, Michael, and Franklin's celebrity bodyguard had to flee from the cougar packs. The author then continued the session while controlling Franklin.

The escape involved dodging cougars as they leaped toward the protagonist. Some carried heavy machine guns, while others wore body armor. There were also cougars equipped with traffic cones, with no explanation offered for the accessory.

Teleporting did not end the chase. When Franklin was instantly moved to another location, the cougars followed him there. That kept the threat active even after an attempt to create distance across the map.

The objective during the test was to reach a private jet waiting on the runway at Los Santos International Airport. After several minutes, the author concluded that reaching the aircraft normally was probably not going to happen. He then used another deliberate teleport to return to Franklin's home.

The change of location produced another enormous concentration of enemies. In an explicitly humorous estimate, the report says that roughly “56 quintillion” cougars tried to attack Franklin at that point. The response was to use an explosive micro-SMG against the pack.

The session ended after Franklin boarded the plane and was told that he had won. The celebration featured a man with a cougar head and a parade of regular cougars dancing behind him. The author teleported away again before the performance ended.

The test is part of a series in which the author mods GTA 5 every day. Its stated mission is to either transform the game into a PC version of GTA 6 or break it entirely. The cougar encounter marked the series' return following a break.

For players, the mod adds a survival-style activity that can be launched with a key and adjusted through difficulty settings. Catnap sits at one end of the selection, while Catastrophe was used to demonstrate the highest level of chaos described. The source does not state a price, installation process, or system requirements for the mod.

It also remains unclear exactly how each difficulty changes the number, durability, and weapons of the cougars. Compatibility, performance impact, and potential conflicts with other modifications were not detailed. The test and every situation described in this report were published by PC Gamer.
