CBS Miami compared real streets, hotels, and regions with Rockstar’s Vice City.

A CBS Miami report compared GTA 6 locations with real streets, buildings, and regions across South Florida. According to the report, fans have identified over 100 Vice City spots that mirror existing areas in Miami. The examination covered everything from specific addresses to major regions adapted by Rockstar.
Over 100 locations linked to Miami
The report covered references to PortMiami, South Beach, Wynwood, and the Everglades. These places are recreated within the fictional version of Florida known as Leonida in the game. Vice City serves as the state’s interpretation of Miami.
One of the examples examined is at 15th Street and Biscayne Boulevard in downtown Miami. The report paused GTA 6 footage to compare it with the real street. The recognizable elements include a replicated overhead walkway that local residents may identify.
The analysis also moved to Ocean Drive, an area known for its art deco buildings, lights, and busy streets. The avenue was already an important visual reference in the original GTA: Vice City. In GTA 6, real hotels receive names and details adapted for the fictional setting.
The Breakwater Hotel, for example, appears as Hotel Boardwalk. Another property shown in the background is named Hotel Dixon, a reimagining of the Victor Hotel. That second name carries a historical reference connected to Miami architecture.
Julie Fornary of the Miami Design Preservation League told CBS Miami that the Victor Hotel was built by designer and architect L. Murray Dixon in 1937. The Hotel Dixon name therefore works as a tribute to the person behind the real building. It is a detail that may be particularly recognizable to residents familiar with local history.
The identity of Vice City
The comparison was not limited to recreations of individual buildings. CBS Miami highlighted how GTA 6 combines the art deco architecture of historic Miami with the modern buildings that dominate the city’s skyline. The report also connected Vice City with the character, culture, and adventurous spirit associated with Miami.
That combination helps explain why the similarities do not depend entirely on exact copies. Rockstar changes names and rearranges references to fit Leonida while preserving elements that make the locations recognizable. The hotel examples show how an adaptation can carry both visual similarities and historical context.
Known GTA 6 material presents six regions: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park. CBS Miami’s comparisons focus primarily on areas inspired by Miami and South Florida. The source does not explain how the more than 100 locations are distributed across those regions.
Activities shown so far include kayaking, street racing, off-road racing, and air boating. Images have also presented beaches and nightclubs within the open world. These systems may give the environments playable functions, but the report does not specify which compared locations will be directly accessible or usable.
What this means for players
The list strengthens expectations that players familiar with Miami will find references throughout Vice City. For everyone else, the comparisons demonstrate the level of geographical and architectural inspiration used to build Leonida. It does not change pricing, access, or platforms: GTA 6 remains scheduled for November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
It remains unclear which of the more than 100 spots will be accessible, what scale will separate them, or how Rockstar has rearranged those references across the complete map. The report also does not provide a full list of every location identified by fans. The information and comparisons were published by IGN based on the CBS Miami report.
