A new GTA 6 image is being compared to the opening of Pulp Fiction, Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 crime movie. The scene features Lucia and Jason inside a diner, with both characters gripping pistols. The similarity is most noticeable in the framing, but an intentional reference has not been confirmed.
The image was shared by Love magazine on Instagram. The GTA 6 Countdown account then placed the composition next to the opening diner scene from Pulp Fiction. According to GameSpot, the two images have noticeable visual similarities, particularly in the way the couples are framed inside the diner.
In the GTA 6 image, Lucia and Jason are armed, while an empty duffel bag sits next to Lucia. That combination prompted the interpretation that the protagonists may be preparing to rob the location. However, the standalone image does not reveal what happens before or after that moment.
The opening of Pulp Fiction follows Pumpkin and Honey Bunny, played by Tim Roth and Amanda Plummer. The two characters are sitting in a diner when they decide to rob it. The presence of another criminal couple in a similar composition explains why the comparison quickly caught fans’ attention.
That does not mean GTA 6 will recreate the movie sequence. Lucia and Jason could be involved in a different situation, and the image does not explain the purpose of the scene. It only establishes that the two protagonists are armed in that setting.
The comparison fits GTA 6’s presentation as a story about two lovers who are also criminals, with a dynamic associated with Bonnie and Clyde. That premise naturally increases interest in possible references to other criminal couples from popular culture. The source does not say how Lucia and Jason’s story will end.
Speaking to Love magazine, writer Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern said the team wanted both protagonists to be vulnerable, tough and flawed. She said Lucia and Jason can be right or wrong and are able to learn from each other. According to Gauvey-Kern, those traits made them authentic and a great team.
Another GTA 6 writer, Alexa D’Agostino, also discussed the approach to building the characters. She said that focusing on a fully realized person with wants of their own creates someone who is “perfectly imperfect.” D’Agostino added that the result can include clichés while still feeling undeniably real.
Movie references would not be entirely new territory for the series. GameSpot notes that GTA: Vice City featured references to Scarface, while GTA 5 included nods to Heat. That history makes the Pulp Fiction interpretation plausible without turning it into a confirmed connection.
For players, the image does not confirm a mission, mechanic or specific activity. It offers another visual clue about the tone of Lucia and Jason’s relationship, but it does not change any access details. GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
It also remains unclear whether the similarity was designed as a direct homage or simply comes from familiar visual language used in diner crime scenes. The image does not establish whether the moment belongs to a robbery, a larger sequence or a different narrative context. Confirmation would require an explanation from Rockstar or the scene appearing within the game itself.
For now, the comparison is an interpretation of the new image rather than a confirmed story detail. The pistols, duffel bag and framing support the visual parallel, but they do not determine how the sequence unfolds. The possible Pulp Fiction reference was highlighted by GameSpot.
