Jason and Lucia Visually Evolve Since Trailer 1
IGN compares the protagonists across GTA 6's three presentations
Redação G6 World
A comparison published by IGN points to a visual evolution in Jason and Lucia's character models since GTA 6's first trailer arrived in 2023. The differences are most apparent in skin textures, hair, lighting and small physical imperfections. According to the outlet, the protagonists appear to have reached their final level of polish in the recent extended look.
What changed since Trailer 1
The overall art direction appears to have remained consistent, but the amount of visible detail increased between presentations. IGN considers the jump from Trailer 1 to Trailer 2 particularly significant. The difference between the second trailer and the extended look is described as smaller, though still noticeable when compared directly with the 2023 footage.
In the first trailer, Lucia has skin that looks less textured and flatter in the outlet's assessment. Her ponytail shows some movement, but that motion is limited, and her hairstyle remains largely unchanged throughout the video. The main variation comes from a few loose strands of hair around the sides of her face in the opening shots.
Jason receives only a few seconds in the spotlight during that first presentation. IGN describes his appearance at the time as more generic, defined by a shaved head and stubble. Trailer 2 gives him considerably more screen time and shows details such as brown hair flowing out from the back of his hat.
The second presentation also adds more specific physical features to both protagonists. The outlet highlights the sheen of sweat on Jason's skin, the veins outlining his arms and the uneven strands in his facial hair. Light also appears to bounce off the characters' skin in a more natural way.
Lucia appears with multiple looks in Trailer 2, including wavy hair and a golden dress. That variety led IGN to interpret the footage as a sign of broader customization options. The source does not, however, specify how many hairstyles, outfits or appearance settings will actually be available to players.
Evolution during development
The first trailer, released in 2023, was Rockstar's initial official presentation of the game. The studio then went roughly a year and a half without another major showing before presenting GTA 6 again. In IGN's assessment, that interval made the advances in character models and lighting particularly clear.
Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson recently said Trailer 1 served as a “mission statement” for the team. According to Nelson, the game was not yet “fully formed” at that point. The presentation acted as a north star that helped developers understand and follow the project's overall vision.
The recent extended look does not appear to deliver a leap as pronounced as the one between the two trailers. Even so, IGN argues that Jason and Lucia now display a level of polish far beyond their 2023 versions. That assessment covers both their technical refinement and the greater visual variety shown for each character.
What it means for players
The comparison raises expectations for the protagonists' level of detail, but it does not confirm how every element will work during play. Changes in hair, clothing and appearance may indicate customization, although the scope of those options remains undefined. GTA 6 is scheduled for release on November 19, placing the practical answer only weeks away.
It is also unclear whether every highlighted detail will appear in the same way across all situations. The source does not specify potential differences between scenes, gameplay or other presentation conditions. It also does not say whether Jason and Lucia will have identical sets of customization options.
What remains unknown
Players still do not know which visual changes they will be able to control directly and which belong to specific moments in the story. The comparison also provides no full list of available outfits, hairstyles or appearance settings. The actual depth of customization can only be measured once Rockstar details those systems or the game reaches the public.
GTA 6 received an M for Mature rating from the ESRB on the same morning the analysis was published. Rockstar was also increasing its physical advertising in cities including Miami and New York ahead of the November 19 release. The visual comparison of Jason and Lucia across the game's presentations was published by IGN.
