GTA 5 Mod Brings Doom 2 Weapons and Enemies

The mod keeps Los Santos while adding first-person combat and demons to its streets

A mod has turned GTA 5 into a crossover with Doom 2, bringing first-person combat, weapons, and demons from the 1994 shooter into Los Santos. Called Doom 2 in GTA 5 Hell On Earth, or D2IGTA5HOE, it changes the game through specific commands. The experience was tested and reported by PC Gamer.

Pressing F9 shifts GTA 5 away from its usual presentation and into first-person play. The change includes weapons associated with Doom 2, such as the super shotgun, plasma cannon, and BFG. PC Gamer also encountered a minigun during the test.

The mod does not transport the player to Doom 2’s original levels. Los Santos remains the setting, complete with its streets, vehicles, and structures. The difference is that this open world now hosts the arsenal and some of the threats from id’s classic shooter.

A second command takes the transformation further. Pressing F10 activates Hell On Earth mode, causing Doom 2 enemies to appear in the streets. Encounters normally involving GTA 5’s police and traffic can therefore share the city with demons.

The result allows situations such as using a super shotgun against taxis or confronting police with a plasma cannon. These combinations do not replace GTA 5’s urban systems, but add tools from another genre on top of them. The mod effectively overlays Doom 2 elements onto Los Santos rather than fully recreating its levels.

There is one important requirement for accessing the content. Players must provide their own DOOM2.wad file, which the mod uses to incorporate Doom 2 elements. The source does not detail any additional installation steps or compatibility requirements.

The test is part of a PC Gamer series focused on modifying GTA 5 every day. Its stated goal is to either push the game toward a PC version of GTA 6 or break it through increasingly unusual changes. In this case, the experiment moved away from a conventional upgrade and combined GTA directly with a 1994 FPS.

The installation also encountered conflicts with other mods already running in the same setup. F10 had been assigned both to Hell On Earth mode and to dancing and Superman-inspired powers. Interface elements and extra abilities could consequently activate alongside Doom 2’s enemies.

PC Gamer showed the overlapping modifications reaching an even more chaotic point. The test brought together demons, armed furry enemies, Doom 2 weapons, and an approaching tornado at an airport. That combination resulted from several different GTA 5 mods operating at once.

For players, the biggest change is how they can travel through Los Santos and approach its fights. The open map remains available, while Doom 2’s arsenal and spawning demons create a different style of combat. The keyboard commands also provide a way to switch between regular GTA 5 and the features added by the mod.

It remains unclear which editions of GTA 5 are compatible, how the mod behaves without other modifications installed, or exactly how many Doom 2 weapons and enemies are included. There are also no details about performance, stability, or future updates. The report confirms only the behavior observed during this specific test.

Doom 2 in GTA 5 Hell On Earth offers another example of Los Santos serving as a foundation for experiences far removed from the original game. This time, the city has not been replaced but turned into a battlefield for another classic’s weapons and demons. The information and hands-on test were published by PC Gamer.
