Report Points to GTA 6 on PC in Early 2027

The window would put the computer version out by late March

GTA 6 is planned to arrive on PC within the first three months of 2027, according to a report covered by Rock Paper Shotgun. That window would place the computer release no later than the end of March, assuming there are no delays. Rockstar has not confirmed the timing.

The information was originally reported by GamesBeat, which cited four industry sources familiar with the studio’s plans. According to those sources, Rockstar currently intends to release the PC version during the first quarter of 2027. The outlet asked the company for comment but did not receive a response before publication.

That window would put the PC edition only a few months behind GTA 6’s initial console release on November 19. Rock Paper Shotgun notes that the gap would be much shorter than the roughly one-year wait some players expected based on how GTA 5 was handled. That comparison provides context rather than confirmation of the new schedule.

There is currently no official PC release date for GTA 6. The first quarter of 2027 should therefore be treated as a plan reported by industry sources, not as a public commitment from Rockstar. Even within that window, the game could arrive in January, February or March.

The timing also stands out because GTA 6 seemingly will not be available through PC cloud streaming when it debuts on consoles in November. If the reported window is accurate, computer players would still have to wait, but only for a matter of months. A release by March would substantially narrow the gap between versions.

For PC players, that shorter wait is the report’s main practical consequence. Instead of an interval approaching a full year, the version could arrive during the quarter immediately following the console debut. Because Rockstar has not announced this edition, the source provides no preorder information, system requirements or technical details.

The possible window could also allow Rockstar to bring console and PC players together before a future online component for GTA 6. Rock Paper Shotgun presents that alignment as one possible explanation for bringing the game to computers sooner. It remains a strategic interpretation rather than a reason confirmed by the studio.

In September, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy indicated that he expected a GTA 6 multiplayer component to launch at some point in 2027. The source stresses that Clancy’s comment is not official confirmation. It also provides no date that would directly connect that possible online release with the reported first-quarter PC window.

Another factor mentioned in the report is the growing importance of the computer market. Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick has acknowledged that PC has become more important to the financial results of companies like his. Rock Paper Shotgun uses that statement to illustrate why a faster GTA 6 release on the platform could make commercial sense.

None of this makes the window final. The first three months of 2027 represent the plan attributed to the sources at the time of the report, which also acknowledges that delays remain possible. Without an announcement from Rockstar, there is no guarantee GTA 6 will reach PC by March 31.

Several important questions for players remain unanswered. The exact date, announcement timing, supported storefronts and required hardware are all still unknown. The source also does not say whether the PC release would be scheduled close to any multiplayer component planned for GTA 6.

For now, the central point is straightforward: a report says Rockstar intends to shorten the wait for PC and release GTA 6 on the platform during the first quarter of 2027. The window still requires official confirmation and could change. Rock Paper Shotgun covered the claim from GamesBeat’s reporting, which cited four industry sources.
