Spectrum Says GTA 6 Can Download in Under 30 Minutes
Eligible customers can activate free speeds of up to 1Gbps or 2Gbps from November 9 through November 30.

Spectrum says its free speed boost could allow customers to download GTA 6's 212GB file in under 30 minutes. The offer will be available to customers with qualifying internet plans and compatible equipment. It arrives shortly before the game's November 19 launch.
Called the free Gig Speed Lift, the promotion will run from November 9 through November 30. Spectrum says there is no charge or additional commitment required to participate. The speed increase is temporary and will disappear when the offer ends.
Interested customers will need to opt in through the My Spectrum app. Activation requires both an eligible internet plan and compatible equipment. The higher speed will take effect on November 9.
Customers below the 1Gbps tier will have their download speed increased to 1Gbps. Those who already have a plan offering that speed will be boosted to 2Gbps. Both options are included in the same free promotion.
Spectrum estimates that the boost should make it possible to download GTA 6 in under 30 minutes. That projection comes directly from the company as part of its explanation of the offer. The game's file is not getting smaller; the promotion is intended to reduce the time needed to transfer it.
The starting point for the campaign is GTA 6's 212GB file size. That large download makes an internet connection an important part of preparing for launch. Spectrum is using that demand to showcase its faster service tiers.
GTA 6 launches November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The promotion begins 10 days before that date and remains active for another 11 days after release. Eligible customers therefore get a window covering both launch preparation and the game's opening days.
For players, the most direct change is a shorter potential wait for the download. They will not need to permanently subscribe to a faster tier to try the benefit during November. Customers must still opt in through the app to receive the boost.
The promotion also covers Thanksgiving, when a household may have more people using the same connection. Spectrum presents the additional speed as useful in that situation. The benefit will remain active throughout the holiday.
The offer also runs through Black Friday and Cyber Monday. That means the temporary upgrade is not limited to GTA 6's release date. Participating customers will keep the faster connection through the end of November.
After November 30, Spectrum will remove the boost automatically. Customers will not need to cancel the benefit or take any further action. The company's commercial goal is for some users to choose a paid speed upgrade after trying the faster service.
The available information does not identify every plan or piece of equipment that will qualify. It also provides no download-time estimates beyond Spectrum's claim of under 30 minutes. Details of the promotion and its connection to GTA 6's launch were reported by GameSpot.
