GTA 6 refueling takes about 10 seconds, preview says
Stations would also repair cars and recharge electric vehicles

Refueling or recharging a vehicle in GTA 6 reportedly takes about ten seconds, according to a preview covered by PC Gamer. The duration was observed by YouTuber TGG during an extended presentation of the game. It provides the first concrete measurement cited by the report for a mechanic that has divided some fans.
According to TGG, gas stations allow players to refuel combustion-engine cars and recharge electric vehicles. The same locations would also provide an option to repair a vehicle. Selecting refuel or recharge reportedly triggers a cutscene lasting approximately ten seconds.
Rob Nelson, described by PC Gamer as a Rockstar co-studio head, oversaw the presentation. While the vehicle was being refueled, he remarked that it was “pretty fast for a fill-up” and added that players could not complain about that. His comment indicates that the length of the action was directly addressed during the preview.
Nelson also reportedly asked TGG whether people would like the mechanic after saying Rockstar would see what players had to say. PC Gamer notes that refueling has caused discussion among GTA players concerned about interruptions to the series’ usual driving and action. The reported ten-second duration gives that debate a more specific reference point.
For players, the detail suggests a short stop whenever a vehicle needs fuel or electricity. Having repairs, refueling and recharging available at the same kind of location could also combine several vehicle-related tasks into one visit. The source does not say how often players will need to make those stops while traveling across Vice City.
TGG’s assessment was that fuel would probably not become a problem unless players ignored what they were doing. That conclusion depends on how frequently Rockstar requires vehicles to be refueled or recharged. Without that information, it is not yet possible to know whether the ten-second sequence will be occasional or repeatedly interrupt a journey.
It also remains unclear whether the cutscene can be interrupted, skipped or changed by the type of vehicle. The source does not provide fuel prices, tank capacities, electric driving ranges or the consequences of running out. The preview therefore clarifies the approximate duration of the action without explaining the entire system.
The new detail does not settle the wider discussion about realism in GTA 6, but it gives fans an objective figure to consider. Ten seconds is the reported duration of the sequence shown during this preview, not a guarantee covering every possible situation in the game. PC Gamer published the information based on TGG’s account, with GamesRadar+ also credited in the reporting chain.
