The actors associated with Franklin, Michael, and CJ have shared advice for the still-unannounced performers behind Jason and Lucia in GTA 6. Shawn Fonteno recommended listening to Rockstar, while Ned Luke emphasized the importance of showing genuine appreciation for fans. The comments were made to All Out Gaming during MCM Comic Con.

Advice Before GTA 6

The conversation brought together GTA 5 and GTA: San Andreas veterans as GTA 6 approaches its November 19 release. The 13-year wait between games has increased the attention surrounding its new protagonists. For the previous cast, that attention also means the incoming actors should prepare for a lasting relationship with the audience.

Shawn “Solo” Fonteno, who played Franklin in GTA 5, directly recommended that the new cast members follow Rockstar's guidance. According to Fonteno, the studio will lead them in the right direction throughout the process. He also warned them to get ready because they are beginning a journey that could remain with them for a long time.

Young Maylay, the voice of CJ in GTA: San Andreas, focused on the series' ability to connect with multiple generations. He noted that older fans still recognize him, while the GTA 5 cast has a strong connection with younger players. In his view, the performers behind Jason and Lucia will similarly grow alongside their own generation of fans.

Maylay stressed that the arrival of new protagonists does not erase the characters who came before them. CJ, Franklin, Michael, and Trevor remain associated with the actors who voiced and performed them even after another game takes the spotlight. For the new cast, that suggests the connection created through GTA 6 could last far beyond its release period.

Ned Luke, who played Michael De Santa, placed the relationship with fans at the center of his advice. He said audiences can detect insincere appreciation and urged the incoming actors to value the community genuinely. In Luke's view, everything the cast has gained exists because people continue to follow and play GTA.

A Connection Across Generations

The advice shows that taking part in GTA involves more than the work completed during production. Conventions, fan meetings, and constant public recognition can keep a performer connected to a character for years. The experiences of the San Andreas and GTA 5 casts offer the next protagonists a preview of that prolonged exposure.

The source also recalled a different attitude from Steven Ogg, who played Trevor. Ogg previously said he felt no particular excitement about GTA 6 because he is not a gamer and has never played a video game. In 2025, however, he suggested that Trevor could be killed at the beginning of the new game as a way to thank fans and pass the torch to another generation.

Rockstar has not officially announced the actors playing Jason and Lucia. Some fans associate Lucia with actress Manni L. Perez because of perceived similarities in voice and appearance, but her involvement has not been confirmed. The actress' caution when discussing the subject is not confirmation that she is involved with GTA 6.

What It Means for Players

The comments do not change GTA 6's release date, platforms, price, or access. They do, however, illustrate the level of attention the new protagonists and their performers may receive after November 19. For fans, the hope is that this future relationship will have the same warmth demonstrated by some of the series' veterans.

It remains unknown when Rockstar will officially introduce the actors behind Jason and Lucia. It is also unclear whether they will take part in interviews, conventions, or other public activities around the launch. The advice was directed at the characters' performers, but it does not reveal their identities or provide new information about the game's story.

IGN highlighted the comments following the interview with All Out Gaming at MCM Comic Con. Its report presents Fonteno, Maylay, and Luke as veterans who understand how long GTA can remain part of an actor's career. Their central message to the next protagonists is straightforward: listen to Rockstar, prepare for the attention, and treat the fans sincerely.
