23 days to GTA 6, and the PS4 is not invited

There are 23 days left until 19 November 2026, and one fact still catches people off guard: GTA 6 is not coming to PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Rockstar has said since the first announcement that the game is current-generation only, and nothing since has suggested otherwise. Anyone who reaches the 19th with a PS4 will not be playing — they will be watching.

That turns the next three weeks into a scramble for a console, and it is a move we have seen before. In September 2013, the week GTA V came out, the PlayStation 3 vanished from Brazilian retailers' shelves and prices went up. This is not a forecast: it is what happened the last time Rockstar launched a GTA into a generation that was already mature.

We checked today's prices, 27 October 2026, on Mercado Livre. They change on their own, which is why the date is here: what is written below was true at the moment this was published, and it is worth checking before you buy.

The PlayStation 5 Pro 2TB is at R$ 7,067 paying by Pix, down from the R$ 7,599 list price, or ten instalments of R$ 759.90 interest-free — the shop also offers up to 21 instalments of R$ 361.86 — with free shipping. It is the most expensive machine on this list and the only one that delivers the maximum performance Sony currently offers.

For anyone who does not need the top of the range, the PlayStation 5 Standard 1TB is at R$ 5,117, 36% off the R$ 7,999 list price, in ten instalments of R$ 511.70 interest-free. That is almost two thousand reais less than the Pro, and it runs exactly the same game — the Pro's advantage is resolution and frame rate, not the list of titles it opens.

The obvious point about the digital editions is worth making: they have no disc drive. Anyone planning to buy GTA 6 on physical media needs a model with a drive — or the standalone PS5 Slim drive, which is at R$ 679.99, below its R$ 771 list price.

None of these prices is a promise from us. They are what the shop was showing today, and consoles on the eve of a launch tend to move in the opposite direction from what buyers hope.
