GTA 6 Gets an Aerial Mural After an Eight-Hour Flight
The Pilot Picasso used a Cessna’s continuous route to form imagery tied to the game before returning to the same airfield.

Benjamin McDaniel spent eight hours and eight minutes in the air on November 5 drawing a GTA 6-inspired mural with the route of a Cessna Skylane RG. Known as The Pilot Picasso, he departed Bentonville airfield, identified as QTV, at 11:29 a.m. and returned to the same location at 7:37 p.m. According to IGN, the continuous visualization of the flight formed the game’s logo and other imagery associated with GTA 6’s setting.
The drawing was created as a single line running from the beginning of the journey to the end. IGN compared the process to an Etch A Sketch, where an image has to be built through a continuous stroke. In this case, every curve depended on the aircraft’s movement throughout the flight.
McDaniel remained in the air for the entire performance and landed at the same airfield where he had started. The difference between the departure and arrival times matches the reported duration of eight hours and eight minutes. The journey could be followed through flight path visualization systems.
The composition included the GTA 6 logo, an alligator, palm trees, a sports car, and a bikini-clad woman. A helicopter was also drawn above the logo. Every element was connected by the same continuous route flown by the Cessna.
IGN highlighted the turns required to form the alligator as one of the most entertaining parts of the journey. Its shape required a sequence of direction changes that stands out in the completed visualization. The result turned navigation data into a recognizable tribute to the next Grand Theft Auto.
McDaniel says safety is his priority when planning these projects. “Safety is number one. If bad weather rolls around, I push the flight to another day or another week,” he said in a recent interview cited by IGN. His comments indicate that suitable conditions are required before he attempts to complete a drawing.
The GTA 6 mural belongs to a wider collection of works created by the pilot with the same method. In October, The Pilot Picasso flew a route that formed the Mona Lisa. He has also recreated Edvard Munch’s The Scream through a flight.
His earlier subjects include several works connected to games and pop culture. McDaniel has created routes inspired by The Lord of the Rings, Skyrim, and Spider-Man. GTA 6 now joins that collection of images drawn through the movement of an aircraft.
The pilot’s upcoming plans include a classical piece and a Thanksgiving-themed work. The source does not identify the images that will be represented during those two flights. Specific dates for the projects have not been announced either.
The GTA 6 tribute was completed on November 5, exactly two weeks before the game’s scheduled release date. GTA 6 is set to arrive on November 19, 2026. The announced platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
For players, the flight does not change the price, access, platforms, or release schedule. Its impact comes from the way fans and creators are turning the wait into projects of their own. The eight-hour duration shows the level of commitment behind this particular tribute.
The Cessna’s total travel distance and its predominant altitude during the drawing remain unknown. The source also does not explain how McDaniel planned each turn before taking off. The amount of preparation required to build the route has not been disclosed.
IGN placed particular emphasis on the turns used to form the alligator. The work joins the growing sequence of continuous drawings McDaniel has created with flight paths. His GTA 6 tribute arrives as the game approaches its November 19 release.
