GTA 6's Criminal Profile meter can reportedly crack and eventually shatter when the player takes mayhem to an extreme level, according to an IGN report based on a closed-door presentation attended by YouTuber TGG. Once that happens, the game would stop judging the player's actions through the system. The state is said to be difficult to reach and could apparently remain in place for the rest of that playthrough.

TGG said he recently saw GTA 6 behind closed doors and provided details about the different Criminal Profile levels. The system reportedly has four main states: Professional, Aggressive, Violent, and Psycho. Professional occupies the highest and most honorable end of the meter, while Psycho is its lowest level. An additional unnamed state would exist beyond those four options.

The meter would begin to crack in that extra state before shattering completely. According to TGG, Rockstar suggested that reaching this point will be very difficult and that it partly exists for players who clearly demonstrate that they do not care about the system. After the meter breaks, the game would simply stop measuring their actions through the Criminal Profile. IGN describes the result as an essentially irredeemable condition for that playthrough.

That does not mean GTA 6 intends to force every player to manage the meter carefully, according to the report. Rockstar is said to be pursuing a balance that allows people to ignore individual systems without making that choice feel like a constant punishment. Players who want to cause destruction without following the evaluation can do so, while notifications about Criminal Profile changes can also be disabled. The feature therefore acts more like a reading of someone's criminal style than a rule everyone must follow.

Before reaching its breaking point, the Criminal Profile would judge the context surrounding an action. If someone shoots back during a robbery, the player could return fire without receiving a negative impact, according to the example shared by TGG. Shooting a helpless store clerk or escalating a situation without cause would instead push the meter toward its darker side. That contextual design already separates the feature from a simple crime counter, while the ability to shatter it adds an exit for players who no longer want to be judged.

For players, the new detail indicates that the system may accommodate very different play styles without imposing the same behavior on everyone. Jason and Lucia would also have independent profiles, allowing each protagonist to be played differently. One could remain at the Professional level while the other moves through the more violent states or even pushes the meter to its limit. The source does not say whether breaking the Criminal Profile unlocks, blocks, or changes any specific missions.
