Mod Brings a GTA 6-Like Wanted System to GTA 5

A mod called VI Wanted System has brought a version of the police suspicion mechanics that PC Gamer associates with GTA 6 into GTA 5. The modification makes clothing, hair and other aspects of a player’s appearance relevant to the police search. As a result, losing the wanted level is no longer enough to end the pursuit completely.

The project appeared in a PC Gamer series that modifies GTA 5 every day, either to move it closer to a PC version of GTA 6 or simply push the game to its breaking point. According to the outlet, VI Wanted System creates a facsimile of the next game’s possible police suspicion mechanics. To disappear entirely, the player must change the features that officers are using for identification.

During the test, the writer opened fire in downtown Los Santos and quickly had both a physical description and expensive clothing recorded by the police. That information did not guarantee that officers could find the player, as the session also featured frictionless vehicles, ongoing gang warfare and ambient hit squads. Even so, the mod treated the player’s appearance as persistent information in the manhunt.

The first attempt to throw off the police at a clothing store failed. The shop refused to serve a player surrounded by angry, armed officers, forcing the writer to return home and change shirts. That helped only partially because the remaining parts of the physical description still mattered.

The next step was a visit to a barber, where the character successfully received a haircut while attempting to escape. After the changes, the writer stood outside a police station without being recognized by the officers. The experiment ended when the police noticed the shotgun that was still equipped and opened fire.

For GTA 5 players, the test demonstrates how an additional identification layer can extend a chase beyond the traditional wanted stars. Escaping involves not only breaking the police line of sight but also changing the appearance included in the description. The source does not specify installation requirements, compatibility, availability or how the mod behaves without the other modifications active during the test.

It also remains unclear how closely VI Wanted System matches the final mechanics of GTA 6.
