Roleplay glossary: metagaming, powergaming, VDM and the rest

Before joining any city, memorise the vocabulary. It shows up in the rules, in the punishments and in the whitelist interview.

• IC / OOC: in character and out of character. Everything your character knows is IC; what only you know is OOC.
• Metagaming: using OOC information in game. Watching another player's stream and acting on it is the classic example.
• Powergaming: forcing unrealistic actions or denying your opponent the right to react.
• RDM: killing someone with no roleplay reason.
• VDM: using a vehicle as a weapon with no context.
• Fear RP: your character must feel fear. A gun to the head means compliance.
• New Life Rule: after dying and respawning, the character forgets what caused the death.
• Combat logging: leaving the server to escape a situation. Near-certain punishment.

Mastering these eight terms solves most rejected applications.
