What is GTA RP and why it became its own universe

GTA RP stands for roleplay inside Grand Theft Auto. Instead of running missions, the player joins a private server, creates a character with a name, a past and a job, and starts living that life in the city.

The rule that holds everything together is simple: never break character. You speak, react and decide as that person would — even when it means losing money, going to jail or dying.

How it works

• Whitelist: most large servers require an interview or an application before granting access.
• Jobs: police, paramedic, mechanic, lawyer, journalist, shop owner. Each role has its own community training.
• Economy: wages, taxes, rent and businesses create a loop that gives weight to decisions.
• Rules: powergaming, metagaming and RDM (killing with no roleplay reason) are the most punished offences.

Why it exploded

Roleplay turned the game into a live soap opera. Viewers follow arcs that last months, watching characters age, break down and reinvent themselves. It is content that does not end when the campaign ends.
