Xbox Gives Away Alligator Console With GTA 6 Vibes

The X-Bite puts a Series X inside an animatronic alligator and leans on Florida references without naming the game.

Microsoft has created a custom Xbox Series X inside a large animatronic alligator and will award it through a sweepstakes. Called the X-Bite, the console is playable and was introduced with references to Florida and Miami. GameSpot interprets that setting as a creative way to promote GTA 6 on Xbox without directly naming the game.

The X-Bite is approximately five feet long and was built to look as though the animal swallowed an Xbox Series X whole. The console sits inside the alligator but remains available for actual play. Even the Nexus button, also known as the Guide button, can be seen glowing through the creature’s skin.

Microsoft produced only one unit of the custom console. The winner will also receive an Xbox controller featuring simulated bite marks that match the overall design. According to the company, the package has an estimated value of $800.

Despite its appearance, the piece was not made from a real alligator. Microsoft describes it as a custom fabrication and says no actual animals were used or harmed. It was designed by John Nolan Studio, an animatronic-creature specialist that worked on productions including The Witcher and Jurassic World Dominion.

To enter, participants must follow Xbox on X, Instagram, or TikTok and repost the sweepstakes announcement. The repost must include the hashtag #XbiteSweepstakes, and the participant’s account must be public. Entries remain open through November 10.

The winner will be selected through a random drawing and will have 48 hours to respond after being contacted. If that deadline is missed, Microsoft will move on to another participant. The company joked that the gator would make a clean getaway, another line that GameSpot connects to the world of GTA 6.

Microsoft does not mention GTA 6 or Rockstar Games in its announcement. Xbox marketing boss Josh Munsee only said that the system has “pure Miami vibes.” Because GTA 6 takes place in Vice City, a fictional stand-in for the Florida city, GameSpot considers the comment an apparent reference to the game.

The announcement also says the winner can use the X-Bite to play some of the biggest games of the year. GTA 6 is again left unnamed, keeping the connection implicit rather than official. For GameSpot, however, the combination of Miami, Florida, a getaway joke, and the release calendar makes the promotional intent difficult to miss.

The indirect approach comes as Sony holds the marketing rights for GTA 6. The PS5 edition has received its own promotional treatment, including a limited-edition DualSense controller inspired by the game. Trailers have also ended by saying that GTA 6 “plays best” on PS5, while the launch trailer did not display an Xbox logo.

Even with that difference in exposure, GTA 6 is also a major release for Microsoft. Sensor Tower figures cited by GameSpot estimate about 2 million copies sold on Xbox Series X|S, compared with 5.75 million on PS5. The reported 74% to 26% split in favor of PS5 reflects the two brands’ current shares of the console market, according to the analysis.

GameSpot calculates that 2 million Xbox copies would represent approximately $192 million in gross revenue. Because Microsoft takes a 30% cut from games sold through its platform, its share would be around $57.6 million. These are ballpark estimates rather than financial results directly reported by the company.

For players, the immediate development is a chance to win a functional, one-of-a-kind Xbox Series X through November 10. It remains unknown whether Microsoft will ever formally identify the X-Bite as a GTA 6 promotion, since neither the game nor Rockstar appears in the announcement. The console details, sweepstakes rules, and interpretation of its references were reported by GameSpot based on Microsoft’s announcement.
